Workshops
Our workshops are focused sessions designed for those who want to go more in depth into specific techniques, forms and creative processes in clay.
Led by our in-house teachers, each workshop offers structured guidance in a supportive studio setting, whether you’re building on existing skills, trying something new, or looking for a deeper hands-on experience with clay.
Wheel Throwing for Beginners
(8 sessions over 4 weeks)
Day 1 & Day 2: Preparing Clay and Centering (90 min + 90 min)
In the first session, students will learn how to prepare and wedge their own clay. They will be taught the "Bull's/Ram’s head" method to prepare clay for throwing. They will then be introduced to the first step to working on the wheel, Centering.

Day 3 & Day 4: Cylinder (90 min + 90 min)
Students learn the next crucial step which is how to open the centered mound of clay, make a base, and pull up walls to make the most basic form, the Cylinder.
Day 5 & Day 6: Shaping Techniques (90 min + 90 min)
Once students have learnt how to make cylinders, the next step is to convert them into different shapes. This class will focus on making cups, bowls and vases.

Day 7: Trimming, Finishing, and Attachments (90 min)
In this class, students will be taught how to finish their pieces in preparation for firing: (1) trimming to remove extra clay, (2) adding a foot ring to the base and (3) attaching handles/knobs.
Day 8: Finishing and Introduction to Glazing (90 min)
Students are taught how to finish their pots with attention to details. In this session, you also get a demonstration of how to apply glazes, which is the last step of the process.

Intermediate Wheel Throwing
(8 sessions over 4 weeks)
Day 1: Centering and Pulling Cylinders (90 min)
Students will revisit the fundamentals of wheel throwing, with a focus on improving centering and pulling techniques. The aim is to build greater control, consistency and confidence while creating taller and more even cylinders.

Day 2: Pulling Cylinders and Trimming (90 min)
Students will continue refining their cylinder forms while learning how to identify and correct common flaws in construction. They will also be introduced to trimming techniques to remove excess clay, refine the base and improve the overall finish of their pieces.

Day 3: Exploring Vases (90 min)
Students will learn how to move beyond basic cylinders and begin shaping more complex vase forms. This session will focus on cylindrical vases, narrow-neck vases and rounded forms, helping students develop better control over proportion, curve and structure.

Day 4: Vase Trimming (90 min)
Students will trim and finish the vases made in the previous session. The class will focus on refining the shape, correcting weight and balance, creating clean foot rings and improving the overall craftsmanship of each piece.
Day 5: Exploring Bowls (90 min)
Students will be introduced to throwing different bowl forms, including salad bowls and pasta bowls. The session will focus on opening, shaping and widening the clay while maintaining an even wall thickness and a well-balanced form.

Day 6: Bowl Trimming (90 min)
Students will trim and finish their bowl forms, learning how to refine the curve, remove excess weight and create a clean, stable foot. Attention will be given to improving the final profile and achieving a more professional finish.

Day 7: Exploring Plates (90 min)
Students will learn how to throw plates, including dinner plates and side plates. This session will focus on creating wide, flat forms, controlling the base and rim, and understanding the technical challenges involved in keeping plates even and well-balanced.

Day 8: Plate Trimming (90 min)
Students will trim and complete their plates with attention to detail and craftsmanship. The session will focus on refining the base, finishing the rim and ensuring the final pieces are clean, functional and ready for the next stage of the ceramic process.

Hand Building for Beginners
(8 sessions over 4 weeks)
Day 1: Wedging and Introduction to Pinching (90 min)
In the first session, students will learn how to prepare and wedge their own clay. They will be taught the "Bull's/Ram’s head" wedging technique. Then, they are introduced to Pinching technique and are required to explore multiple forms using the same.
Day 2: Introduction to Coiling (90 min)
In this session, students are introduced to Coiling technique that also includes merging coils together and exploring multiple forms that are more dynamic.
Day 3: Introduction to Slabs (90 min)
Students will be taught how to make their own slabs using rolling pins and the slab roller. Then they can explore various stages of working with a slab, that is leather hard or soft. They will be taught to build various forms, geometric and organic.
Day 4: Pinching Project (90 min)
Students are required to come up with ideas for a pinching project, the instructor will guide and help them with the execution.
Day 5: Coiling Project (90 min)
Students are required to come up with ideas for a coiling project, the instructor will guide and help them with the execution.
Day 6: Slab Project (90 min)
Students are required to come up with ideas for a slab project, the instructor will guide and help them with the execution.
Day 7 & 8: Final Project (90 min + 90 min)
For the final project, the students are required to come up with ideas for a challenging project that combines all three techniques. Thereafter, they work on ideation and execution.
